I grew up in Northern Kentucky and studied chemistry at Northern Kentucky University before heading to the University of Kentucky for medical school. During that time, I discovered my passion for rural medicine and serving communities in Appalachia. On my travels, I fell in love with North Carolina, and that’s what drew me to the MAHEC Boone Family Medicine program—it offers strong, hands-on training in a community-centered, rural setting that feels like home.
Outside of medicine, a fun fact about me is that I worked at an aquarium throughout undergrad and medical school.

Hi! I was born and raised in Merrick, NY, a town on the south shore of Long Island not far from the beach. I grew up with a deep love for science, and decided in high school that I wanted to become a doctor to combine that love with the desire to help others around me. I attended UNC Chapel Hill for undergrad, where I majored in Neuroscience and Biology. After graduation (and the start of the COVID-19 pandemic), I came back home and worked as an ophthalmic scribe for a year. I then moved to Columbia, SC after getting into medical school at University of South Carolina. My family moved too, as they were already in love with the South after visiting me in Chapel Hill so much. We all now live in Summerville, SC!
When I started my clinical rotations, rural medicine was not even on my radar as a specialty to consider. I was able to complete part of my family medicine rotation in Winnsboro, SC, and surprised myself by falling in love with the way providers could interact with their community and provide lifelong care. It was such a special experience to be a part of, and after meeting the faculty and residents during my interview, I felt I could continue to build on that foundation at this residency program.
My interests within family medicine include mom/baby care, women’s preventative health, procedures, and working with underserved populations. Outside of medicine, I love to read, be outside, go to different breweries with my partner, Teddy, and spoil my cat, Maya. I am so excited to be starting this next chapter in Boone and to be joining this amazing team!

Hello, I am both grateful and excited to be spending this next chapter of my life at the MAHEC Boone Family Medicine Residency Program! I grew up in Geneva, Florida, a rural unincorporated area known for its Little-Big Econ State Forest and beautiful sights along both the St. Johns and Econlockhatchee Rivers. I spent much of my childhood playing in the woods and going on adventures to the ocean which included snorkeling, fishing, and shark tagging.
I completed my bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in chemistry at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. I also worked as an EMT which was a fulfilling experience that combined hands-on medical care with meaningful opportunities to engage with the community, making a tangible difference in people’s lives. When college classes were made virtual due to the emerging pandemic, I began work as a laboratory technician at one of Daytona Beach’s quarantine testing sites and then attended Wake Forest University’s School of Medicine where I led the school garden and volunteered as a floor manager of the student clinic’s laboratory.
I chose family medicine for its wide breadth of knowledge that empowers me to treat patients of all ages and backgrounds with the care and compassion taught to me by the many wonderful mentors I’ve had the opportunity to learn from along my journey. I chose MAHEC Boone because of its friendly and supportive people in addition to its full-spectrum family medicine training. My hobbies include gardening, cooking, fresh water & marine biology, and going to App State Athletics games.

I am so happy to be part of the MAHEC Boone family and for the opportunity to serve this beautiful part of my home state. I have lived all over North Carolina and have slowly made my way across the state. I was born in Fayetteville, yes military family! I then completed my undergraduate degree in Biology in Wilmington. I moved to Charlotte where I met my husband. We then got to experience the beauty of the Blue Ridge during my medical training at VCOM in Virginia before making our way here.
My interest in family medicine comes from wanting to help people get back to living a life they love through preventing and treating chronic disease. I have special interests in lifestyle medicine, wilderness medicine, ultrasound, and nutrition. I could not pick a better place to complete my residency training than here in Boone, surrounded by nature and surrounded by an amazing community!

I am thrilled to be a part of Boone’s Family Medicine program. I grew up in Hanover, Virginia just outside of Richmond, and I went to undergrad at William and Mary where I majored in Biology and Kinesiology. After college, I was a part of a service fellowship called MedServe where I worked as a medical assistant for a small primary care clinic in Wilmington, North Carolina. I loved my experience there, and saw first hand how beneficial a strong patient-physician relationship and access to quality medical care is. I then went to medical school at VCOM in Blacksburg, Virginia, where my passion for rural and underserved care only grew. I was drawn to Boone’s program because of their service to the community and their full-spectrum training, and was convinced it was the right choice for me once I realized all of the other amazing people here have similar goals. I can’t wait to live and work in such a beautiful part of the state!

I am proud to call Wilkesboro, NC my hometown. For undergrad, I attended Appalachian State University, where I majored in Exercise Science. It was there that I first fell in love with anatomy, preventive medicine, and, of course, App State Athletics.
With encouragement from my professors, I became a certified nursing assistant and worked in a skilled nursing facility prior to medical school. This experience deepened my appreciation for life, empathy, and dignity - and solidified my desire to become a physician who advocates for patients while fostering a supportive healthcare team.
I went on to attend medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. I was lucky to be paired early on with a family medicine mentor who showed me the joy of full-scope care. Through clinical rotations, my passion for rural family medicine only grew stronger. I’m confident that MAHEC Boone is the perfect place to help shape my future as a physician.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy sewing and crocheting - as well as playing clarinet, piano, and ukulele. On weekends, you’ll often find me cheering on App State Athletics with family and friends. Go App!
I could not be more excited to return to The High Country and serve the community that has given me so much joy!
